Policy Analysis Portfolio

  1. Towards a responsible circular economy

For my master’s capstone (akin to a thesis), I worked with the Union of Concerned Scientists to investigate how California can promote a more responsible transition towards renewable energy.

The project explored how the Extended Producer Responsibility framework can be used to advance responsible electric vehicle battery recycling. Proudly, the project was one of seven nominated for the Smolensky Award for Outstanding Capstone.

2. Envisioning a just climate transition in Mexico

Using frameworks from sociotechnical transition studies, this paper examines policy tools pertinent to incorporating increased benefits to local communities for policymakers working on Mexico’s green energy transition.

3. Reducing deforestation in the Global South

This project analyzes causal research studies to evaluate the quality of evidence on deforestation prevention policies.

4. Building public support for climate policies

This policy brief summarizes evidence from an international randomized study. It extracts and translates the key points from a research paper, assessing the quality of the research and what conclusions can reasonably be drawn based on the study design and results.

5. Achieving water justice in California

This co-authored report for Climate and Community Institute examines systemic inequities in California's water rights system and presents evidence-based policy recommendations for reform. Through analysis of current water allocation practices, historical context, and climate projections, the research identifies three key challenges and proposes policy solutions.
